Dimitris Koufontinas, who has been on hunger strike since the 8th of January, and whose health is now in critical condition, is facing his calculated extermination, a clear political choice made by the government of New Democracy.

"The beginning of the uprisings marked a historic moment in the US. It was a complete cultural shift from below, as you say, where people found their power against the police and acted firmly and unrelentingly against the police and icons of capitalism. It was a movement particularly driven by black and brown youth, who disproportionately feel the wrath of the armed forces. It was unapologetic and passionate. In New York, to see in the neighborhoods kids who had been directly targeted, harassed, beaten, and family members killed, directly confronting without fear, the very police who had done these things, was an incredible sight."

The state-capitalist system that condemns millions of people to death by hunger, disease and war, is not fighting against the evolving pandemic but for the preservation of the privileges and power of the political and economic elites.

Police violence in the US is one of the basic pillars of a state that frantically attacks in order to maintain its power. Having caused and being involved inhundreds of imperialistic war operations, the US state bombs civilians andloots the capitalist periphery, terrorizing the planet but also its own inhabitants and, more intensively, the black, the indigenous and poor populations.
